Ohio Poll: Dems Ahead

There is a new poll from the Columbus Dispatch this morning and it shows that Democratic candidates are ahead of Republicans for the offices of Ohio governor and the U.S. Senate.  With the Republican corruption scandals still being revealed, Ohioans might be looking for change.
The new poll shows the following for the office of Ohio Governor:
Ted Strickland (D) 47% and Kenneth Blackwell (R) 27%

For U. S. Senate:
Sherrod Brown (D) 45%
Mike DeWine (R) 37%

For full results, check the Dispatch poll: http://www.dispatch.com/?story=dispatch/ 2006/07/23/20060723-A1-01.html

Awesome news! I believe this is the first poll done by an Ohio entity (as opposed to Survey USA or Rasmussen) showing Sherrod ahead. I'll have to look and see but do you know if it was taken after the 9/11 fakery by DeWine?

This confirms the Survey and Zogby polls but confirms that Rasmussen was off, he tends to over sample republicans in OH like he did in 2004.

Re: Ohio Poll: Dems Ahead (none / 0)

Although the Dispatch admitted that somewhat more Democrats than republicans responded to this poll. I believe this was one of their mail-in polls wasn't it?

The optimist in me I guess will say that is good news since it means that Democrats are more energized and will vote in greater numbers in November. But in general I think this poll might be overestimating our strength just a tad bit.

Re: Ohio Poll: Dems Ahead (none / 0)

I wonder how huge the polling disparity has to be in Ohio for Blackwell not to do for himself in November exactly what he did for BushCheney in 2004. And how big does the disparity between polls like this one and the fixed Diebold polls each November have to be before citizens of Ohio-- and the rest of the country-- rise up and say "NO MORE!"

Well this poll confirms the WSJ and Zogby polls that were released yesterday that had Brown up by a similar margin.

Usually alot of people are on vacation, over the summertime, I think this race will be back to a 3 point race after labor day.
